East Bank West Bank Nile Cruise Dendera and Abydos

DENDERA

The Dendera Temple is dedicated to the goddess Hator, and the work commenced under the Ptolemaeans. Thus it is 1000 years younger than the temples of ”The New Kingdom”, and one of the most well preserved. The most impressive are the 24 Hator columns of the entrance hall.
On the roof is the double chapel of Osiris with the famous zodiac in the ceiling.
From the roof there is a very beautiful view of the landscape.

ABYDOS

This is one of the most fascinating areas in Egypt. In 1991 the oldest king’s tomb of Egypt, from circa 3150 BC was found here, with the oldest examples of hieroglyphs.
Here too is The Seti Temple with some of the most beautiful reliefs from ”The New Kingdom” along with ”The Register of the Kings” with 76 names of kings from Narmer to Ramses II., The Seven Chapels, The Hall of Osiris with 3 chapels and Osirion ( the tomb of Osiris), which symbolizes the primordeal sea.
